National Fire Safety Institute (NFSI)

The National Fire Safety Institute (NFSI) is the flagship training institution governed by the Labour Employment & Environment Development Council (LEEDC). Established with the objective of strengthening national and industrial safety competence, NFSI delivers specialised, industry-oriented education and training in Fire, Safety, and Environment.

NFSI focuses on bridging the gap between traditional civic fire training and the evolving safety requirements of modern industries. Its programmes are designed to meet the needs of high-risk sectors such as oil & gas, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, infrastructure, and process industries, while also remaining relevant for municipal and emergency response roles.

Education

Academic & Training Focus

NFSI offers structured, career-oriented programmes that emphasise practical skills, regulatory compliance, and employability, including:

  • Diploma in Industrial Fire & Safety Management

  • Sub-Officer in Industrial Fire & Safety Management

The curriculum is developed in consultation with industry experts and aligned with national and international safety standards, ensuring that learners are equipped to operate effectively in both domestic and global work environments.

Practical Learning & Employability

A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on training, including live fire drills, mock emergency response exercises, safety simulations, and industrial exposure. This practical orientation enables graduates to transition confidently into real-world safety roles.

NFSI maintains a consistent focus on employment outcomes, with students placed across India and internationally in sectors such as oil & gas, manufacturing, logistics, construction, and industrial services.

Social Impact Through Education

Under the guidance of LEEDC, NFSI actively contributes to social development by:

  • Providing skill-based education to youth from economically weaker sections

  • Supporting CSR-funded training initiatives in collaboration with PSUs and industries

  • Promoting safety awareness and capacity building for sustainable industrial growth
